President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Muhammadu
Buhari accompanied by APC party loyalists which include Minister of Labour and
Employment Senator Chris Ngige, the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomohole,
the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and the party National Auditor, Chief
George Moghalu.
Others
in his entourage, were Governor of Lagos, Akinwumi Ambode, Senators Andy Uba,
Margery Chuba Okadigbo, Emma Anosike, Hope Uzodinma, Hon. Tony Nwoye, Bar.
Basil Okonkwo among others stormed the commercial city of Onitsha in commission
of the Ziks Mausoleum.
President Buhari
while commissioning of Zik mausoleum said that late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe as was
not only a Nigerian but a nationalist who chose to be credible and indelible in
service and leadership.
The President described Dr Azikiwe as an epitome of peace unity
and one Nigeria and we owe him as a duty to sustain and promote his national
patriotism and accomplishment.
“I
inherited some of the Federal Government projects that were abandoned by the
successive administrations which include the Ziks Mauseloum, the Enugu Onitsha
Express road, Enugu Okigwe Port Harcourt road and the 2nd Niger Bridge and I
have chosen to ensure the completion of these projects part of which we are
commissioning today, he said”.
He
said that his administration has successfully completed projects in the South
East particularly in Anambra state abandoned twenty years ago, adding that the
2nd Niger Bridge valued at N302 billion is ongoing.
He said that too many unemployed youths were
now enjoying employment from N-Power programme, assuring that more people,
particularly women would benefit from the government if given the opportunity
to go for second term in office.
On
security President Buhari refuted the insinuations that the insurgents control
a large part of Borno State, saying that the gallant Nigerian troops are in
full control of the situation, while the Boko Haram elements were on the run.
He said that his government has brought criminal activities
under control, insisting that the security agents have improved surveillance
and crime control has improved greatly.
Early,
at the palace of the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, President Buhari
allayed the fear that the South East are being marginalized, adding that his
administration has improved the standard of the living of the people of Nigeria
including the South East.
He,
however, acknowledged the complaint over the appointment of security chiefs
which the South East are complaining of, promised that his administration will
be fair to all Nigerian.
The
Minister Transport Chief Chibuike Amaechi revealed that the construction of a
railway line from Port Harcourt linking some cities in the South East including
Onitsha, Enugu to Maiduguri has been approved by the Federal Government, which
will help in the development of the interiors and improving the economy.
Also
speaking Senator Dr Chris Ngige thanked President Buhari not only for
commissioning the Ziks Mausoleum and construction of major roads in Anambra
State, but has also embarked on feeding over 3000 Anambra State children and
empowering about 20,000 traders through Trader Moni Scheme.
National
Chairman of APC Comrade Adams Oshomohole described President Buhari has been
generous though releasing funds to state Governors to pay workers and to embark
on developmental projects
He
called on the people of Anambra state to vote enmass for President Buhari and
other candidates contesting for other elective position under the APC.
