Poly Ibadan, Nasu commences indefinite strike.

The Non – Academic Staff Union of the Polytechnic, Ibadan today Wednesday commences an indefinite strike which leads to the stoppage of Academic activities in the school.

The premises of the prestigious polytechnic was reported to be a war scenario this morning as member of the Non – Academic Staff Union came out in mass, holding canes on bike and motorcycle to scare student  back there various hostels and apartments.
The school gate was reported to be locked, preventing staffs vehicle and Commercial vans from entering the school.

It could be recollected that the Staff union as hitherto begin a warning strike last week, which was very peaceful to the fact that the Academic activities were going smoothly without any threat or violence by the Union.   

According to an H.N.D 1 student of the Mass communication department, Fabiyi Qozeem who was an eye witness of the scenario reveals that the Union was angry by the act of taking all means to delay academic activities in the school from now till further notice.
“we were attacked at the ‘Poly Microfinance Bank’ chased back to our hostels with canes, 
Lectures were also not allowed to commence as our lecturers were locked outside the school compound, the union tends to be very angry, we pray the government sees into their opinion faster, we want our academics to move on, we can’t avoid to see our time being wasted”he said.

Also the H.O.D of the Mass Communication Department, Mr. Olusoji Olatunji while reacting to the development showed his dissatisfaction in the way the government reacts to the complains of the Union, he also express the negative effect the strike would cause to academic activities in the school.

"The NASU were angry and they refused lectures to move on, they are wasting the students' time" which will affect the academic calendar, unfortunately the deadline for this has not been predicted, till God says. He said.
